She then informed me that I could order one from their spares dept (a company called Nedis), but when I called them there was nothing listed according to their system. A call to Sony today says I should have had a USB wireless dongle in the box, but I don't ever recall having that (I bought a Buffalo wireless adapter seperately when I first got the unit). Then I changed broadband supplier to BT and have not yet been able to reconnect since. I've had one of these for a couple of years now and after some intial headaches connecting to the wireless network it was running fine. And while Im doing all this, I cant play any music! Sony, you could do better. Theres no system of grouping music or for finding it and it seems like Im going to have to rename every album to make it quicker to find at the moment the display will just say The very best of so I need to press more buttons to make it scroll. However, the designers were obviously in a hurry! I do expect to be able to remember what music I have but I dont want to scroll through dozens of albums to find the one I want. There are a couple of silly faults the wire for the speakers is far too short, for example but it has a good sound, looks good and lets me get rid of all the junk around my system. Ive just got one of these and potentially it could be a good piece of kit. And while I'm doing all this, I can't play any music! Sony, you could do better. I did this AND removed the space from the sharename just incase (I have seen systems that do not like spaces).Īnd it all works great now. I then noticed on page 36 of the manual that you could also use the IP address instead of computername. At first I entered my computer name, share name, username and password, but that did not work. Connecting to the internet was no problem. It is working!! I bought A Sony Nas 50hde 2 days ago and have managed, after some problems, to connect it to my computer via the network. Simply connect USB storage box Into Giga NAS dongle and ready to enjoy the powerful NAS.
